Venner Swasson was born on August 30, 1963 in Campbellton, New Brunswick. At the age of 16 Venner started employment in the field of forestry with his father and brothers and continued this type of occupation for the remainig years of his life. He enjoyed the strenous work, long hours and the atmoshere of the woods but most of all he enjoyed their dinner breaks when they gather togerther and ate homemade beans, bologne with lusgnign on an open fire. During those years on a daily basis he encourtered a number of truckers some of which become his best friends. When Venner was not working in the woods, he would take the opportunity to go hunting.
This was one of his favourite past time. During the last months of his life he scheduled one last hunting trip where he succeeded in capturing a 12 point moose which he became very estastic during that moment. I think deep down Venner knew that this would be his last hunting trip and savoured every moment. The other thing that he enjoyed was the times he spent on the highway making fires and having his family and friends drop by. He would maintain the fire pit and occasionally have a feast for his friends. The boom was another significant area for Venner which he looked forward to every year because this would be his fishing post for a couple of hours.
Venner was born in a family of 10 siblings him being the youngest and the oldest being Peter then Leonard, Maggie, Vina, Mike, Ronnie Floyd, Ralph and Debbie. He shared commonalities with his brother Mike which developed a close relationship amongst each other. His immediate family consisted of 4 children and 1 grandchild. Ronnie and Rhonda being the eldest and then Isaac, Sherise being the youngest. Tyla was Venner's first granddaughter which he named e'pite's. Venner was also an uncle to 5 nieces and 11 nephews. He was very proud of having his children, being a grandparent and an unlce.
On September 16, 2006 one of Venner's wishes was fulfilled by getting married. At 1:00 p.m. on this day he married Ann Moffat who was his first love in front of his family and friends. The wedding took 2 days to organize and the weather accomodated this celebration. Reception was outdoors and the elders provided a splendid meal for this occasion. The celebration continued until the early hours of the morning and he expressed that he was glad that he was physically able to last thru the whole celebration. In addition, one of Venner's wish that he did not hve the opportunity to obtain was to go to Los Vegas, however, his wife and sister will complete this wish in the near future.
Furthermore, Venner had expressed his thoughts of his ordeal in a journal and stated his mental and emotional feelings. This is one of his last entries of his journal dated October 1, 2006. A verbatim entry of the journal.
Time is just flying. Going to Rimouski for treatment tomorrow. I've been in/out of hospitals past 6 weeks. Going through radiation now. Got married to lovely woman Sept 16, 2006. Ann Margaret Swasson. I've been through a lot of hospitals. To tell you the truth it f----- me up mentally and emotionally. But I manage to work a lit bit at a time on my wood business. That's one thing i miss the most my forest. Leaves have changed, colors, it's the most enjoyable time in the forest. I hope to God he helps me through this cycle.
In closing, Venner's final say would always be "comme se comme sa". All we can say is that life will be "comme se comma sa" without you.
The end to a human existance but a beginning to the spiritual world.
